Pediatric Hepatology

In children, there are several structural, infectious, inborn metabolic abnormalities, and autoimmune liver diseases. Pediatric hepatology is concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of children and teenagers suffering from the digestive tract and liver disorders. Pediatric hepatologists work in designated centers to provide tertiary and national hepatology services. They diagnose and treat pediatric liver illnesses including acute and chronic liver failure and they work closely with transplant programs to care for liver and small bowel transplant recipients.
