Eco immunology is an interdisciplinary field combining aspects of immunology with ecology, biology, physiology, and evolution. The field of Eco immunology, while young, seeks to give an ultimate perspective on proximate mechanisms of immunology.

Psychological mechanisms that allow individual organisms to detect the potential presence of disease-causing parasites in their immediate environment and to engage in behaviors that prevent contact with those objects and individuals is known as Behavioral Immunity.
