Nano Opthalmology

Nanotechnology is a new concept that will soon become the pinnacle of science and technology. This technology is predicted to benefit various parts of ophthalmology therapy and diagnostics in the near future. Many medications' bioavailability is reduced due to the complicated drug delivery barrier in the eye, resulting in poor therapeutic benefits. New medications must be investigated using proper delivery methods and vehicles. Nanotechnology has been used to develop prospective ocular medication delivery systems that interact with the ocular mucosa, enhance permeability, and lengthen drug retention time in the eye. Nano-carriers such as liposomes, nanoparticles, nano-suspensions, nano-micelles, and nano-emulsions have also gained favour as effective theranostic applications to treat various microbial superbugs. Nanocarrier technologies hold a lot of promise for revolutionising medication delivery in DED, as they can deliver therapeutic agents to particular locations and for longer periods of time
